Developing The Relationship

Working with your dog must be a daily part of both of your lives. It builds a bond and causes trust and affection. Even if you never show your dog, it is important to both of you.

Here on a hot and sunny day both Baby and I are going through the basics of ring activity.

Standing, being examined and trotting around the ring are all very good activities for the both of you. I lost over 100 pounds from when I first got Baby in July of 2007 till the day of this picture late April 2009.

Many people ask me; "How did you lose all that weight?"

This is how! Walking and working with my dogs has been both a great spiritual, as well as physical benefit to me. I am healthier, happier and my mastiffs know that they are loved. It is more than good food, fresh water and treats. It is the time you invest in them as well.

Junk Yard Dog

Far from it, but I couldn't resist as this old bathtub became a comfy place for Baby to hang out on a spring weekend here in the Jersey Shore.

Baby's Blog

Hi I am Baby Independence of Long Branch, but you may simply call me "Baby." I am an English Mastiff, who was born on May 14, 2007 in Missouri.
One day a man from New Jersey came to visit me and some other dogs with a few children. The children were playing with the other dogs but the man came and said hello to me. He took me in his arms and we sat down and played and talked and then he asked me if I wanted to come home with him. It seemed like a good idea, so I wagged my tail and he and I have been together ever since.
Since then, he has gotten smaller, or at least he doesn't look as big as he did when I first met him. We added other mastiffs to our family. First we got Georgeanne from our friends who have a big farm not too far from us. I say not too far, because the drive to them is no where near as long as the drive from Missouri to New Jersey was.
I have loads of funny human stories and especially since Sable came to live with us. Sable is another mastiff and she is a mommy mastiff, but really not my mommy. But don't tell her I know that. I like the farm where Geogeanne was born. It's has lots of places for me to sniff and walk and explore. I like my life and I hope you like my place on the web.
Thank you for stopping by.
